We decided to buy two chairs that would last far longer than the every two years buying the other brands of portable folding chairs.
Very excellent customer care , very fast shipping as soon as the order is placed. The new chair is an updated version which is easier to close.
All the friends who try this chair out at the pickleball court are very impress with the quality and comfort of the chair. Even better is the new lower price .

Narrow and deep
A very strong and sturdy chair. Easy to open and close.

However - the seat is narrow (yeah I’m fat, but not that fat that I don’t fit in a chair) and the seat itself is “deep”, meaning you sit very far back.

This chair, by the manufacturer’s discloser in the instruction manual is NOT designed to be used at the beach (no sand)!

As our first product we designed the Emmett to be as comfortable as possible for most people but we understand that not everyone is the same. And that's correct: as stated here on our website and in the manual it was not designed for the beach!

Amazing chairs and customer service
I am an original Kickstarter backer on two these chairs. I have since bough six more for myself and friends. Everyone who sits in them loves them. I have had an issue with one of my original chairs and one new one arrived broken due to poor handling by UPS. Both issues were resolved easily and without issue. I wish all companies could be like this.

How is the Emmett different to a regular camping chair?

The Emmett is the result of years of development to create a portable chair designed from the ground up for how we live today in the modern outdoors. In terms of design, quality, comfort, materials and features it's like nothing you've seen before.

How do I fold and unfold the chair?

Check out opening and folding instructions here.
The chair unfolds by pulling the arms down and away from each other until the arms are locked and the siderails are fully down at the front.
To fold the chair, first use the buttons on the arms to unlock the arms, and then fold the arms up and towards each other.

What is the weight capacity?

The weight capacity of the True Places Emmett Portable Chair is 300 pounds.
We designed the Emmett as a real piece of furniture and to be comfortable for most people from 5'1" to 7'1". Note: the seat is a regular chair width, not an extra-wide seat. If you are looking for an extra-wide seat this may not be the ideal chair for you.

What is the size and weight of the True Places Emmett Portable Chair?

The size when open is 36" tall (chair feet to top of the chair back), 24" wide (from outer edges of armrests; the seating area is 18" wide), and 20" deep. The height of the chair seat to the ground is 18". When folded, the chair is 36" tall, 9" wide, and 8" deep.
The chair weighs 10.9 pounds.

Can I use the Emmett Portable Chair at the beach?

We do not recommend heavy usage at the beach (at least sandy beaches!) More specifically, heavy exposure to sand in and around the folding mechanism and locking system may make the chair difficult to open and close.
If it does get a little sand or salt water on it, just rinse with fresh water and allow to air dry. We built the Emmett to last and with the highest quality materials for most situations, but be aware the folding design was not intended for primary use in sand and salt water.
We designed our first folding chair for so many other outdoor locations: in your backyard, around the firepit, at the park, on the sidelines, at a tailgate with friends...the list goes on!
